Ghana Boxing stakeholders are very sad with the take over of the administration and management of professional boxing by an Interim Management Committee (IMC) put in place by the Minister of Sports and Recreation and the National Sports Authority (NSA).
Speaking on the Big Fight Night on Omashi TV, Mubarak Yusif Nanor, a hardworking Matchmaker of SafeBox Promotions and Legacy Fight Sports Promotions said it is very unfortunate but if the IMC is going to go by its terms of reference then he prays all goes well.
He noted that whenever he is in charge of an event, they make sure in going strictly by the regulations. rules and modalities.
According to him, Legacy Rise Sports makes sure to provide medical documents of boxers and ensure adequate security for officials and spectators.
He noted that Ghana Boxing needs investment as the various gyms must be supported with equipment and insurance covers.
"We all know life is precious, but boxing is a game of chances and business where anything can happen like any life endeavour, so people should be patient and see what the IMC will bring on board, we are watching" he said.
He prayed that they would ensure safer health and medical protocols and handover in peace.
Yusif Nanor also advised the boxing fraternity to be careful while attending events related to the death of famous boxer, Ernest Akushey aka Bahubali not to create confusion or misunderstanding as some people are accusing Dickson after the sad incident.
He advised the family of Bahubali to be patient till they see and know what the autopsy report will confirm.
There was a successful seven days remembrance vigil ceremony for the deceased boxer at Chorkor Tea Garden last Tuesday evening and the boxing fraternity and fans are organising another Walk on Sunday.
Bahubali has been described as a jovial or entertainment boxer who talked much to attract fans.
Though he engaged Soldier Boxer in a no contest and lost the Super Middleweight Championship against Jonathan Tetteh and later lost again to Jacob Dickson in a catch weight contest, he had won all his first six bouts and won the favour of many followers. Prior to his passing he was the most popular boxer in Ghana.
