The 13^th African Games competitions begun on Monday with Samuel Akayede getting a first win for Ghana in table tennis. He registered 3:1 against Sudanese Iddrisu to advance to the next stage of the men's table tennis singles event.

Ghana's Cynthia Kwabi also defeated 9 year old Sifa Favour from Kenya by 3:0 to advance to the next stage of the table tennis women's singles.
