Omari is under investigation over issues which also involved Ahmad Ahmad, the president of CAF who is suspended from all football activity for fve years and cannot stand for re-election himself at a CAF congress in Rabat on March 12.

Ahmad was banned for his mishandling of CAF, including the unauthorised financing of a pilgrimage of some CAF executive committee members to Mecca, the contracting of a minor sports equipment company Tactical Steel and other issues.

He has denied all wrongdoing and appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Also barred by FIFA from standing for a slot on its council is Algeria's Kheïreddine Zetchi.

Four candidates have been approved to stand for the presidency by both CAF and FIFA: Ahmed Yahya, 44, from Mauritania, South African millionaire businessman Patrice Motsepe, 58, Augustin Emmanuel Senghor, 55, from Senegal and Ivory Coast FA president Jacques Anouma, 69.

Madagascar’s Ahmad has been restored as Confederation of African Football (CAF) president following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Ahmad was banned by FIFA in November for five years after football’s world governing body found him to have breached several of its ethics codes.

The Malagasy appealed his decision at CAS, which issued a preliminary ruling on Friday.

Ahmad is still ineligible to contest CAF’s presidential elections in March however, since the CAS decision came after both the CAF’s Governance Committee and FIFA’s Review Committee met earlier this week to discuss the eligibility of candidates.

Since he was banned when FIFA met on Tuesday and CAF on Thursday, Ahmad was deemed ineligible to run.

CAS says it will hear Ahmad’s appeal in full on 2 March, with a decision issued before the CAF presidential elections on 12 March.
