Abdul Rasheed Williams popularly known as Believer, a veteran trainer/matchmaker and head trainer of Believers Boxing Gym as well as Secretary General of United Boxing Coaches Association of Ghana has decided to contest in the up coming Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) Elections.
He has trained a lot of good boxers like Scorpion Bawa, James Toney ,Patrice Beh, Joshua Okine,Annor Amissah and others.
He is calling on fellow boxing delegates, fans, sports men and women together with loved ones to remember him with their votes on the upcoming GBA election to be held on July 22, 2021 at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
He wants to stand for the First Vice President position.
Williams aka Believer has massive experience in the game, as he has been doing the brilliant works already over the years.
His mission and ambition is to help the youth in Ghana to be successful in boxing and win more continental and world titles.
He is responsible for the May Day Akotoku coming up on May Day at the Lebanon House, featuring crack boxers.

MobileMoney Limited (MML), a wholly owned subsidiary of Scancom PLC announces the appointment of Mr. Eli Hini as its first Chief Executive Officer.
The appointment was made by the MML Board early this month indicating Eli’s responsibility to drive strategy, business development, innovation and relevant operations for MTN’s Mobile Money business. Prior to Eli’s appointment as Chief Executive Officer, he was the General Manager for MobileMoney Limited, a role he held for approximately five years. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a postgraduate diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK.

The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has sent a goodwill message to National Super Bantamweight champion, Theophilus Tetteh who faces South Africa’s Ayabonga Sonjica for the vacant IBF Africa Junior Featherweight title on Saturday, April 24, 2021 in the Rumble Africa Promotions event.
Secretary General of the GBA, Mr. Patrick Johnson said Tetteh is one of the humble and disciplined boxers who must be supported to win the African title and go on to claim the world crown.
He said the GBA has confident in him, that he will succeed and make Ghana proud.
Meanwhile, the Friends of Boxing (FOB) and the Ghana Boxing Supporters Union (GBSU) have also wished Tetteh success.
Tetteh and his coach Suleiman Martey left Accra for South Africa last Sunday.
Coach Martey said they have really prepared and hope to give South Africans a real fight and return home with the belt.
Ghana’s Theophilus Tetteh is one of the international guests on the bill at the Boardwalk Casino PE.

The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has appointed Mr. Haruna Adamu as the Covid-19 Liaison Officer for Team Ghana at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
He explained the responsibilities of the Covid-19 Liaison Officer to Yours Truly as follows:
Ensuring everyone complies with rules, including playbook and other covid-19 countermeasures, before the departure, during their entire stay in Japan and during their departure after the games.
The Covid-19 Liaison Officer is also responsible for submitting the team's Schedule of Activities in Japan 45 days prior to their departure to the Japanese authority, prepare the team for their Negative Covid-19 Certificates and also make sure that they have uploaded the mandatory health apps on their phones.
The Covid-19 Liaison Officer is also responsible for reporting and handling travel documentation of all the athletes and also submitting positive covid-19 cases.

Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Hon. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije has disclosed that boxing is gold mine and the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) and its stakeholders must reap the benefits of their toils.
Speaking at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Thursday where he chaired the Press Conference on the May Day Akotoku to come off at the Lebanon House at Tudu, he said more have to be done for the game to be more attractive and lucrative.
He said the GBA must go on a road show for businesses to come and support.
“Let’s expose our boxers outside for support, I am prepared to support in that endeavour” he assured.
He advised boxers to improve upon their skills and be disciplined as a hallmark of the business.
He appealed to corporate Ghana to support boxing as the youth has potential in becoming world heroes.
He urged boxers and boxing fans to respect time and come to the event on time.
Promoter Mr. Emmanuel Nii Amoo Mensah of Euroka Boxing Promotions thanked the media and all the sponsors supporting the event.
He expressed that boxing is a business that one must prepare very well before venturing into, as since organizing the ‘Saayoo Night’ he went to rest for a while to learn more and prepare for the future.
Mr. Lord Acquaye, who represented the GBA said the nation abounds in talents and hopes for more promotions to make boxers busy and active.
Mr. Rashid Williams aka ‘Believer’ the renowned match maker advised boxing fans to come to the Lebanon House Boxing Arena early on May 1, 2021 as the bouts will start at 6pm.
He announced that 13 bouts will be staged with Mawuli Folivi taking on Eliasu Sulley for the Natiional and West Africa Super Middleweight Championship.
Musa Lawson will face Collison Korley for the National Super Welterweight title.
Other interesting pairings will see world rated Manyo Plange against Raymond Commey in a Bantamweight clash, Sheriff Seidu versus Enoch Lamptey in a Super Featherweight contest and Osumanu Haruna against John Dugu in a Heavyweight duel.
Abram Afful will meet Moses Lartey in a Welterweight contest, and Michael Osumanu Osunla against Cudjoe Darah in a Middleweight clash.
Richard Fenyi will face Odartey Lamptey in a Lightweight fray as Dan Gorsh meets Kofi Atanga in a Bantamweight contest.
John Koudeha from Togo will meet Ghana’s Niamou Aziz Samson, while Abdul Ali clashes with Francis Mensah.

A meeting has been held on Tuesday, 20th April, 2021 between Mr. Mohammed Mahadi, third vice President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and Mrs. Nese Gundogan, Secretary General of the Turkish Olympic Committee on how Ghana can host a successful African Games in 2023.
President Mahadi who is also the President of Ghana Fencing Federation moved into action by meeting the Secretary General of the Turkish Olympic Committee to discuss the possibilities of supporting Ghana to successfully host the Africa Games also called the African Olympic Games.
As Ghana prepares towards the Africa Games and most of facilities to host the games might not be ready for an effective 18 months training and preparation, the visionary leader of the Ghana Olympic Committee President Ben Nunoo Mensah tasked the International Relations subcommittee under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohammed Mahadi, the third vice president of GOC to do everything possible to get the advanced countries to open their elite sports centers for our various sporting disciplines that will fetcher the African Games in 2023 and facilitate various MOUs that will for the benefits of both countries.
“We have two major tournaments in front of us that’s 2022 Commonwealth Games and 2023 Africa Games and most of the challenges we are facing is infrastructures and equipment’s to train.
“We are having a discussion with a lot of National Olympics Committee to open their doors for us to have exchange program and also sign MoUs so that we can go there to train” Mr. Mahadi said.
“The reason why we went to Turkey is that they are looking up to qualify many athletes to the Olympics Games and Turkey is ready to welcome Ghana to prepare towards those tournaments”, he added.
President Ben Nunoo Mensah has stated that it is the vision of His Excellency President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo and the sports Minister Hon. Mustapha Usif to host this Championship and win handsomely.

Abraham Kotei Neequaye, the second vice president of the Ghana Boxing Authority GBA is one of the bold personalities who have come forward to declare his intention of leading the august sanctioning body.
He has been acting as the first vice president for the past four years and has experienced much of Ghana boxing in the years gone by.
He feels his time is due, and he is the right person to succeed Lawyer Peter Zwennes and continue with the good works.
The young, energetic and vibrant as well as popular personality who contested and lost the Okaikoi South Parliamentary seat on NDC ticket at the last General Elections believes he has something to offer Ghana, and should be tried in boxing, which he loves so much.
He is currently the local manager of Emmanuel ‘Game Boy’ Tagoe and his team is trying hard to get a world title shot to give the nation another world champion.
He believes in a progressive and vibrant media and has promised to work with the media to put Ghana boxing where it really belongs.
Neequaye hopes to continue with the discipline that has come to stay with Ghana Boxing and ensure that boxers and coaches get good fights, locally and internationally, and are paid well.
“I am contesting for the presidency and I am confident of winning,” said Mr Neequaye. “I believe in my capabilities and I know I have a lot of experience to continue with the good work of Peter Zwennes.
“I am willing to introduce good policies that will attract media and companies to sponsor boxing in the country,” he added.

Experienced ring official Roger Barnor has added to the list of people who wish to contest in the upcoming Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) Elections which comes off on July 22, 2021 at the Trust Sports Emporium in Accra.
According to the top referee / judge, he has the qualities and knowledge to become the first vice president of the GBA.
“I am well positioned and have the links both locally and internationally to support Ghana Boxing” he told Yours Truly.
Mr. Roger Barnor said Ghana has good boxers, howeve most of them are not rated by the world bodies, and he promises to ensure that all the crack Ghanaian boxers are rated in Africa, Commonwealth, WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF.
He said the GBA must put an eye on the amateurs and support them as without good amateur boxers, there can never be good professionals. He hinted getting a facility in Europe to train the Black Bombers before the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, but all will depend on the government who must invest in the national team.
He promised to unite the boxing fraternity and ensure that there are courses for referees and coaches to keep them abreast with modern trends.
He also promised to be friendly with sports journalists who promote boxing.

Young Ghanaian female artiste, Mynah will be performing at the ‘Girls Box’ event on Saturday, April 24 at the old City Engineers Premise at James Town.
Also known as Wilhemina Amoah, the 13 year old who took part in the TV3 kids entertainment programme is breaking new barriers and moving into other entertainment scopes like sports.
She attends Tower Hamlets International School and supports the theme of the all girls boxing programme at James Town, and she hopes to perform to change lives.
The theme is to curb teenage pregnancy, and Mynah wants to show some love to her colleagues and friends on Saturday.
She has called on parents to protect their children, and not leave them to wander any how.
The ‘Girls Box’ show which features some of the best female boxers is being organized by the Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) and supported by Women In Sports Association (WISA).

The Professional Combat Sports Association (PCSA) presents the First Combat Jujutsu Championship at the Fitrip Gym, Dzorwulu in Accra on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 12pm.
The event is under the patronage of Messrs Evans Bernice Johnson and Gabriel Akosah Bobie, Executive Directors of the PCSA.
The programme is being held under the theme ‘Knock Out Covid -19 in Ghana’ and all the best practitioners and coaches would be taking part.
According to Bernie Johnson the event is to create awareness on the sport and also invite more people who are interested to join, as there are many opportunities aside self defense. He expressed that both males and females are invited.
He noted that all Covid -19 protocols would be observed.
