Box Office CEO Tips Alfred Lamptey To Win SWAG Professional Boxer Of The Year Award
Ace boxing promoter, Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye of Box Office Sports has tipped budding Ghanaian Featherweight Alfred ‘Bukom Bomber’ Lamptey to win the prestigious Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Professional Boxer of the year award for 2021.
Mr. Ntiamoah-Boakye says he is confident the fighter will win the award after a sterling year in the sports.
He wrote on his Facebook Page after the announcement of nominations last week;
“Proud to see your nomination as the SWAG Professional Boxer of the Year and I have the confidence you will win as your performance for this year has been spectacular, winning 4 championship tiles this year West Africa Boxing Union (WABU) & Universal Boxing Organization (UBO) All Africa Featherweight titles as well as the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Youth World & World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver Youth World Titles. Go for it champ!,” Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye wrote.
Alfred Lamptey was nominated along with two compatriots Mohammed Aryeetey, who has no belt yet and WBO Africa Featherweight champion, John Abaja Laryea, both of whom have made immense gains in their respective careers this year.
The winner will be announced at the 46th SWAG awards ceremony to be held at the Accra International Conference Center on December 17, 2021.

Ace utility player, Mercy Amorkor Tagoe aka Sabato has joined Cape Coast based Lady Strikers for one season.
She told Yours Truly it was a sweet decision she took to help them in the upcoming Women's Super Cup Tournament, which kicks off on November 25, 2021, and test her fitness before moving outside Ghana again.
After playing for top female football clubs in Ghana, West Africa and abroad, she feels it is time to repackage and move on with a different personality.
She expressed that her target is to play for the national women's football team, the Black Queens or move to a big club in Europe or America as she believes to have what it takes to play at the highest level.
She hopes to shine at her new club, especially in the tournament. She plays her first game for Strikers against Kumasi Sports Academy on November 27.
The Women's Super Cup has two groups. Group A is made up of Ampem Darkoa, Soccer Intellectuals, Berry Ladies and Prisons Ladies , while Group B has Hasaacas Ladies, Ash Town Ladies, Lady Strikers and Kumasi Sports Academy.
Mercy Tagoe believes in herself and knows she can play at the highest level.

Ghana Blind Sports Association of the Ghana Blind Union have sent a congratulatory message to Mr Samson Deen president elect for the Africa Paralympic Committee.
The president for National Paralympic Committee Ghana (APC)won the elections that was held in Morocco last Sunday.
(APC) after polling 24 of the 41 votes at the organisation's General Assembly in the Moroccan capital Rabat.
He replaces Angola's Leonel da Rocha Pinto, who had led the APC since 2008 and was re-elected unopposed in 2017.
A total of 38 delegates were present in person and a further three virtually at the APC General Assembly, and Deen received 24 of the votes cast, beating the 15 polled by Hamid El Aouni of Morocco, as reported by Modern Ghana.
Deen was elected as President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Ghana in 2019, having previously headed the country's Para Powerlifting Association.
Mr Deen is a business mogul with vast experience in sports tourism and sports administration.
Egypt's Dr Hayat Khatab was elected to the first vice-presidential role at the General Assembly, polling 23 votes to the seven of Cape Verde’s Rodrigo Bejarano.
Mr Deen sincechis appointment as NPC Ghana president has supported the Ghana Blind Sports Association and has pledge his continues support to the GBSA. The Ghana Blind Sports Association together with the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) is set to stage the 2021 IBSA Goalball African Championship from December 3-11 at the sports complex of the Cape Coast University.
Nigeria, Egypt, Algeria, Kenya Cote DI’vore, Cameroon and Morocco will all join the host Ghana to battle for supremacy and honors is the sport of Goalball.
The competition would feature both men and women teams.
It would be the first time Ghana would be hosting the championship, since it was staged once in Algeria and twice in Egypt.
At the last African Championships in Port Said, Egypt, in 2020, the Algerian men’s and women’s teams both took gold to secure their place at the Paralympics.
The 2021 Championship would be a qualifier for the 2022 IBSA Goalball World Championships in Hangzhou China, from 6-18 July. The top three teams in each gender would secure their tickets.
The Ghana Blind Sports Association with support from the Ghana Blind Union has over the years developed Blind sports such as Goalball, Blind Football, Judo and Showdown in ten regions of Ghana.

Ghana captain, Andre Ayew has bid farewell to his manager at Al-Sadd SC, Xavi Hernandez after the Spaniard completed his return to Barcelona as head coach.
After days of negotiations, Barcelona have finally reached a deal with the Qatari giants to give the vacant head coach job to the former midfield maestro.
Although gutted, Andre Ayew has wished Xavi the best of luck in his next steps. In a farewell message on Twitter, the Black Stars attacker says he is proud to have had the chance to work with the football great.
“Mister thank you for everything. Ur humbleness is unique, learned so much in this few months. Proud to have worked with such a legend. May Allah bless ur new chapter. Good luck Mister,” Andre Ayew’s post on Twitter reads.

The President of the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA), Mr Abdul Hayye Yartey has met the President of the International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) Dr. Raphael Santonja and the President of the African Federation of Bodybuilding (AFBB) Dr Adeel Fahim at the ongoing World Bodybuilding Championship in Santa Susanna, Barcelona,Spain
They discussed many important issues, especially on the development of Bodybuilding in Ghana and Africa .
Both Presidents observed President Yartey as a huge personality who can help the development of the sport bodybuilding in Africa and have tasked him to put in more works to help develop the Sports in Africa.
Dr Raphael said “you are a very hard working young man and I am very impress with the level of development that you’ve brought to Ghana Bodybuilding. Some years ago Ghana was no where to be seen in the world of Bodybuilding. You have worked very hard to put Ghana on the world map when it comes to Bodybuilding but I feel you have great potentials to do more and we will love you to do more for us”. They jokingly asked Mr Yartey to go out of football and concentrate on bodybuilding for them
Amongst other issues discussed, was the IFBB Judging Seminar (First Ever Judging Seminar) to be held in Ghana, a West Africa Bodybuilding Championship to be stage in Ghana, and having Bodybuilders from Ghana compete internationally
The IFBB have also decide to help Ghana with medals, number tags, executives and officials of the IFBB to attend the national Championships of Ghana amongst others
The GBFA President took the opportunity to thank the President of the IFBB for the love shown to Ghana and his effort to ensure Athletes from Ghana participate in the ongoing world Championship
He thanked the Dr Adeel, President of the AFBB for his first introduction into the bodybuilding fraternity on the African continent
Mr Yartey also assured the continental leaders that he was going to do his possible best to help push the development of Bodybuilding in Ghana and beyond.

Mr. George Okoe Lamptey, President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) is top favorite to win the 2021 SWAG Sports Administrator of the year after leading the Ghana National Amateur Boxing Team, the Black Bombers to chalk many successes at international and local competitions and other events.
In 2018, Boxing was the sole (Bronze) medal winner for Ghana at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
In 2021, Boxing was the sole (Bronze) medal winner at the Olympic Games for Ghana after almost 30 years in Japan. History was repeated at Tokyo 2020.
All these successes were won under the watch of Mr. George Lamptey who loves to work positively behind, until the results are made. He also says “Boxing is the pillar of Ghana Sports”.
He thanked SWAG for the nomination and the GOC for offering opportunities for the youth, including boxers who always represent and win for the nation.
He believes Ghana will win many medals at the next African Games to be hosted in Accra, and called on all involved in the planning to ensure that the Black Bombers are taken good care of. Between now and 2023.

As part of its ongoing 25th-anniversary celebration, MTN Ghana has launched a special awards scheme for journalists across the country.
The scheme, dubbed “Bright Media Awards” is open to all journalists in the country and cuts across radio, TV, online, and print media.
At a virtual launch event, the Chairman of the occasion, Nana Kwasi Gyan-Apenteng, announced that all entries are supposed to speak to the topic – MTN Ghana: 25 years of brightening lives, but the entries can have unique headlines, so long as they address the topic.
The scheme is designed to reward the overall winner with GHS25,000 worth of prizes, comprising of cash, digital devices, a plaque and a citation, while winners for each category – radio, TV, print and online, will also walk away with GHS10,000 worth of similar prizes.
Explaining the rules of the competition, Nana Gyan-Apenteng said the works to be submitted must be original and should not have been previously published or broadcasted anywhere, adding however that journalists are free to re-tweak old works and present, provided they are confident it speaks to the topic.
For print and online, feature articles should not exceed a thousand words, while for radio and TV entries, it should be either an audio or video documentary or magazine program of not more than 5 minutes.
He said there will also be a special award for photo presentation of the topic, with proper caption and context, adding that for each category, only two entries per person is allowed.
“The use of digital approaches will be an advantage” he said. “This means how much of MTN’s digital journey and contribution to national development and individual lives you can capture in your work.”

Youth coordinator of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Mr. Emmanuel Olla Williams has applauded Mr. Sampson Deen on his election as President of the African Paralympic Committee (APC).
According to him, Mr. Sampson has done well to be the first Ghanaian to attain such high position on the continent, and wish to thank all members of the Olympic/Paralympic families who were represented at the Congress in Morocco.
He said it is good for Ghana on the international front as the nation will attract much respect, and advised Sampson Deen to deliver in his term.
Mr. Deen polled 24 of the total votes cast, beating Morocco’s Hamid El Aouni who polled 15 votes. Mr Deen replaces the outgoing APC boss Leonel da Rocha Pinto who has been in charge for 13 years.
The total of 41 delegates (38 in-person and 3 voting online) comprised of Presidents and General Secretaries of National Paralympics Committees on the continent with 9 positions contested.
Senator Dr. Hayat Khatab of Egypt won the 1st vice president position with 23 votes.
Deen was elected President of the National Paralympics committee in 2019 and was endorsed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports who had Deputy Sports Minister Evans Bobie Opoku in Rabat to support his bid.
Emmanuel Olla Williams is a popular sports organizer and CEO of Dreamland Sports Plus and One On One Foundation, organisers of the SHS Schools Sanitation programme.
