Spanish football giants Barcelona have offered trials to highly rated Ghanaian left- back David Oduro.
The gifted 17 year is currently in the books of Ghana Premier League outfit Accra Lions; where he joined from Desideros FC just two seasons ago.
The big opportunity does not come entirely as a surprise as it is believed that Barcelona have been closely monitoring Oduro who was judged the best defender in the KGL Ghana U-17 Championship in 2022.
The Spanish club had to wait for Oduro who was initially set to sign for English Premiership side Chelsea in January.
However, following successful trials in London, Oduro's manager Yussif Worjoor Abubakar and CMG Sports agent Anthony Acheampong received a call from the Catalan giants who offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to the player in spain.
After further consultations, a chance at a shot with Barcelona was deemed too good to turn down by the player's management.
Oduro who just arrived in Spain, will be assessed whilst training with Barca's junior side at La Masia.
The trials which was kept on the quiet until the arrival of the Ghanaian, is expected to be concluded by next week.
Oduro was upbeat about his big opportunity ahead of his first training session at La Masia.
"It is every player's dream to play for a big club like Barcelona and I am no different. Once I'm here I will do my best and see what happens."

Kaya Forson and Zaira Forson will not compete for Ghana in the African Games.
The Forson sisters have been ruled out due to their school’s examination schedule in France.
“Zaira Forson and Kaya Forson are the only major long-distance swimmers that we have. Those who have done it consistently. Certainly, it is going to affect the team, but what can we say? they are still students aside from being swimmers, so education is paramount and they need to focus on their education.”

The week long Mobile World Congress (MWC) which is an international industry event organised by the GSMA has successfully ended here at the Fira de Gran Via convention center in Barcelona, Spain.
From a first timer attendee point of view, and as a student of the tech industry, it was mind blowing; and almost too much to absorb in just a week with TECNO hogging the headlines.
Interestingly, until I got to Barcelona and started direct feedback with industry players and stakeholders some basic research truths were revealed.
For instance, the Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) is a not-for-profit industry organisation representing suppliers in the mobile communication industry.
Obviously the MWC in Barcelona is the flagship event, while MWC events also take place in Las Vegas, Shanghai and soon across Africa.
There were several highlights for me, but standing tall was the classy and sumptuously produced unveiling of the TECNO Camon 30 Premier with it's new Imaging System locked in with exciting AI features.
It's bound to be a massive hit in 2024 for several reasons; for starters, on the front, users will be greeted by a spacious 6.77" OLED display boasting a resolution of 1,264 x 2,780 pixels and a peak brightness of 1,400 nits.
Let's just get some clarification with the hi-tech descriptions when we break it down to everyday English.
The phone display adopts LTPO technology, a first for non-foldable Tecno devices and when I probed further, the simple meaning is that an LTPO display can dynamically switch between refresh rates, without an additional hardware component between the graphics controller and the graphics processing unit (GPU).
This, I was told, saves a considerable amount of battery life as your phone doesn't have to render as many frames for the task being performed.
The buzz and energy of TECNO at the MWC was palpable with the trickle down effect set to continue after it was announced that the Camon 30 Premier 5G, is scheduled to debut in the second quarter of 2024.
Another major talking point was the unveiling of the 'PolarAce Imaging System'.
As demonstrated by TECNO, the device promises enhanced power efficiency, its ability to perform full-scene AI noise reduction for HDR videos, which is an industry-first according to TECNO.
As far as 2024 is concerned; Europe, Africa, Asia, America and the rest of the world awaits the exciting impact of TECNO creations in the coming months.
